Via Lactea is a modern day take on pilgrimage.

For years, I’ve been obsessed by the idea of pilgrimage, the act of heading out into the unknown with the hope of coming back transformed. I’ve studied the history, made my own visits to Fatima and Guadalupe, and continually wondered how we might combine the framework of pilgrimage with modern tools of therapy and transformation.

When I was walking the Camino de Santiago across Northern Spain, I learned that people once said the Milky Way (la Vía Láctea ) was created by the shuffling of pilgrims’ feet as they walked toward the coast. I loved that idea—that the dust kicked up by our little human efforts rises up to form the entire, sparkling galaxy. That we’re not separate from the cosmos and our actions here matter.

That’s the key thesis running through all of my writing, and I’d love to bring that spirit to real, organized trips. This space is a work in process. Stay tuned!
