Since I was young, I’ve been obsessed with the Big Questions: Why are we all here? What’s the meaning of it all? How do we find the work we came to do? And where for the love of God is the instruction manual?!!!

(Yeah, I was a slightly weird kid!)

For most of my career, my day job was in politics, but in between campaigns, I always hurled myself back out into the world to continue the hunt for meaning and magic. I started writing about it all, sometimes even finding an answer or two. People began to tell me they liked what I had to share, and even though some of those people were related to me, I decided to keep writing.

In 2017 I finished a book about how the world made me a writer. It mostly seems like practice, but I like to think I’ve proven I’ve got the chops.

Now, I’m working on a book about love: my own personal experiences dating around the world, woven in with stories about art and mythology and boys raised by wolves. I believe the world can heal us, stretch us and teach us just about everything we need to know if we just get out into it.

I’m based in Austin, Texas, spend as much time as I can in Madrid, and am always plotting my next trip. Come with me…I’m pretty fun and I’ve usually got snacks!
